Industrial Ethernet
There are many areas where Ethernet devices designed for the office environment do not meet the requirements of the specific application. Examples include outdoor use, in vehicle or railroad applications, deployment in industrial facilities with special environmental conditions, etc. Although industrial Ethernet devices are often referred to as extended operating temperature range DIN-rail mounted switches, a much wider range of industrial Ethernet products are available from manufacturers in different form factors and feature sets engineered for the target vertical market.
Industrial-grade reliability, network redundancy, strengthened security, industry specific properties and certifications such as EN 50155 standard for rail applications and IEC 61850-3 for power automation systems are the most common attributes for industrial Ethernet devices. In addition, support for digital or analogue input and output interfaces, relay connections, serial connectivity, Modbus protocol, wide range voltage input with redundant power design may be key requirements for certain applications.

Outdoor solutions

The integrated industrial PoE switch can be managed or unmanaged with various port numbers and power budget capabilities.
